Beginning six feet beneath the ground, the Concord Point Lighthouse boasts 27 solid granite steps. Its first keeper, war hero John O’Neil, was personally chosen by President John Quincy. The keeper’s house was built 200 feet from the lighthouse which made for a dangerous journey twice a day in inclement weather.
